After a long winter in Canada, we are more than ready for warmer weather and sunshine. We’ve already had a few warm days which has got me thinking about what we need before summer starts.
Today I wanted to share my go to and most used items for mom and baby for the summer!
Classic Bathing Suit for Mom
I bought this suit on recommendation from my favourite fashion blogger Merricks Art. It has incredible reviews on American Eagle and it is the perfect mom bathing suit.
It has good coverage in the back, fun strappy straps and it’s something I feel comfortable wearing around my daughter.
American Eagle usually runs sales on this suit, which is when I bought mine. Right now it’s on sale for $32.97 CDN.
I have a small long but I would definitely size up and get a medium as it’s a little too tight. I’m 5′ 8″ for reference.
SPF Sun Hat for Baby
This is the sun hat I’ve ordered for Lyla this summer. It’s a quick dry hat with SPF 50 protection and it’s adjustable so it will grow with her.
I also like that its from JAN & JUL a Canadian company started by two moms in Vancouver.
Sunscreen Safe for Baby
I love a sunscreen stick because you can keep it in your purse and reapply as needed. Lyla and I both have very pale skin so protecting our skin is very important.
Good Book for Summer Reading
I don’t have a lot of time to read but when I do it’s usually a book on my phone from the library. A few of my favourites are:
I’m currently reading this book from the library and it is fascinating! I also enjoyed the podcast based on it.
I was on the launch team for the book above, I wrote my review of it here. I think everyone should read this book. It’s more than just a conversation on sex but other topics the church has not addressed openly.
All of these books are one’s I have or will read again.
During my research other moms also recommended listening to audiobooks either in the car or after a long day while the kids are playing. I love this idea because it’s a great way to cut down on screen time.
Backpack to Carry Baby Items
This is the backpack I use daily with Lyla. I love it because the material keeps our stuff dry if it rains and I can be hands-free.
It’s also big enough to hold my laptop if I’m going out alone to get some writing done.
It’s under $30 and comes in a variety of colours.
Summer Blanket for Baby
Last year for Mother’s day my hubby got me a blanket very similar to this one from Indigo. It’s perfect for sitting outside because the bottom is waterproof while the top is a soft fleece. It folds up nicely so it’s easy to transport to the beach.
PS: Baby Powder Hack for Removing Sand
To remove sand sprinkle baby powder over it and then brush off with your hand.
